Have you ever had difficulty with physical or sensory barriers to access in the ACT?

Access City Hotline can help! We aim to eliminate accessibility issues in Canberra, including:

  • Narrow doorways
  • Lack of disabled parking
  • Uneven footpaths
  • Unsafe road crossings
  • Poor signage
  • Lack of ramps or lifts
  • Public transport issues

We also operate an information and referral service for people with a disability and their carers.

Who can use the hotline? 

Anyone!

Whether you are frail, elderly, a parent with a pram, a wheelchair user, someone with a physical or intellectual disability, or  advocating on somebody else's behalf.

How does the hotline work to resolve issues?

We use the Disability Discrimination Act and the Building Code of Australia to negotiate with private businesses and services.We work regularly with organisations, services, and government departments to resolve issues, including the Departments of Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS), ACTION Buses, Canberra Cabs, National Disability Services, People With Disabilities (PWD) ACT Inc, and Access in the City Reference Group.
